Man, that took them long enough! Volks have just updated their figures page with colour pics of their 1/4 scale Ayane from ninja gaiden Sigma 2!!
And I’m left with a bit of a “meh” feeling, much like how she was when the kit was lacking colour. It’s still not a bad kit, but it simply doesn’t jump out and say “must get” for me.
But for those undaunted, She will be available to buy at winter wonderfestival in 2 weeks time for 34,440yen (not including various deputy charges you’re bound to run up against.
Awesome detailing tho. But I wonder why they made the hair transparent in the prototype…
The bow at the back looks gorgeous!
Face is a pretty good sculpt as well, unlike the majority of Dead or Alive figures. I might still be swayed as it seems to be one of those kits which really grows on you. the more I look at it, the more I like it and appreciate the details.
So, who’s getting one? or are you all going to wait for an E2046 gathering model again, like KOS-MOS?
Images are from the volks figure site

She looks gorgeous but I agree with you on the paintwork. It looks to plain but with the right paintjob, I bet she’ll look stunning. I’ll be waiting for Artzone’s version
I’m gonna wait and see if this kit can be purchased through volks webstore. I don’t feel like getting ripped off on yahoo japan, especially when money is tight right now.
Will artzone be doing one? I haven’t seen much new stuff from him recently and his site seems to be down…
If you really want one, you could try emailing tokyohunter and asking if he’s willing to help and what his asking price will be. It’ll be a bit more than the RRP but way better than auction markup prices!!!
I still need to find out which side of the fence I’m going to fall on…
Artzone’s been posting his new work on FG- http://www.fg-site.net/members/21690
True, I’ve seen some of his recent stuff, but his old stuff (which is now lost) was gold too!
I know, but he was also fed up with e2046 stealing his photos.
Really? Didn’t know that happened, tho I can’t say I’m surprised…
Oh well, can’t really blame him, but I really did love his Shirley Fenette. I used it as reference for my own!
Oh nice, thanks for the link nightengale. His/Her old site has been down for some time now so I thought ARTZONE quit or something.
guess she’s just not my cup of tea. obviously i don’t built kits, but if i did, i wouldn’t drop 34k yen for her just sorta standing straight, arms at her sides ^^; well or maybe it’s not even the pose, but i also didn’t get a “must get” vibe from these pics
at least, as you mention, the details are very nice ^^ love the colors/design they did on her bow
That’s a general problem with 1/4 kits. They tend to lean towards really static, basic poses, probably due to design constraints. They get a bit better if the model is sitting but that’s about it.
but the details really are amazing with this one…
this..looks like a pvc model, also the hairs no longer transparent maybe they’ll change it back in the end like the previous kos-mos? looks ok.
Doubt it. I never understood why they made the hair transparent in the first place. seemed a bit off when you think about it.
tho I wouldn’t go as far as saying it looks like a PVC figure. I think they would have a hard time replicating it in PVC form, in spite of the very basic pose.
Does her neck look really long to anyone else? I think her neck looks really long. Like take her scarf off and her neck looks almost as long as her head.
It’s pretty cool looking otherwise but I think this figure might look better in 1/8 or 1/7 scale than 1/4.
You find that with any kit with a scarf. most yoko kits have really long, odd looking necks as well. They look fine with the scarf, but without…
But I think the level of detail in the parts suggest that it would be very difficult to replicate the model in anything under 1/4. it wouldn’t be the same.
Oh wow, now that you mention it…
