Wise from your Gwave!!

Anyone remember altered beast on the Mega drive/Genesis?

But this post isn’t on talking about retro games, but rather, the resurrection of an old and beloved site! Waaaaaaaaaaaay back when I started this blog, I was part of one of the first dannychoo communities called figure.fm.

figurefm

Looking back, it wasn’t a particularly great site in terms of functionality but the community was small and rather close knit (probably owing to the fact that registration to the site was severely limited). In any case, Danny pulled the plug back in April 08 and merged the community with the main one on his site.
But now, It’s back!!!

You can reach it by clicking on the banner or the communities link. The banner above was from the old Figure.fm cos, well, I kinda prefer it! Only time will tell if it will retain the community feel of the old one or if it’ll be more like a simple extension of the members news section of DC.com and it’s a little buggy right now, but it’s worth checking out!

On a completely separate note, it seems that Kotobukiya has contacted Danny with regards to his “your room” competition he held earlier this year. Apparently, they want to a book about Foreign otaku rooms. As such, Danny has asked the community members to post High res pics on Figure.fm for the book and I say go for it. It doesn’t matter if you think your room isn’t otaku enough, just give it a shot!
Having said that, I was one of the 11 winners so mine will apparently be used as one of the covers. I wonder if I can get japan center to get a copy when it’s released?

In any case, this means that I’ll have to take my pics all over again, as I kinda deleted my originals… *sigh* yeah yeah, I know…

But I guess I can use the opportunity to add a few more things this time as I’m not limited to 1 just 1 pic in a collage. And my collection has also grown a little since as well.

I remember Altered Beast! Sort of. Actually, all I remember of it is that back when I was in elementary school in Korea, my class once took a multiple-day field trip and we spent one night in some sort of hotel. Bored and restless, a bunch of us went to hang out in the lobby, where some kids pondered whether to dare to use the cigarette vending machine and others played arcade games. They only had three machines, by far the best of which was Altered Beast (I can’t remember what the other two were, but none of us wanted to play them). So I spent half that night watching kids play that game because I had no coins. It looked pretty fun but at the time, I was very easily amused.

That’s good news about Figure.FM, that was one of my favorite websites a while ago. Tsuki-board is a cool site, but it’s not centered on user image uploads like Figure.FM was, and a lot of the user pictures there are of stuff I’m not all that interested in, like Nenderoids.

Very true. Tsuki-board is quite nice for showing off your collection size but it’s lack of user created stuff is annoying. that and garage kits get persecuted cos the webmaster has something against anything which can be found on E2046. A few of us had a nice rant about it but the situation hasn’t really improved…
I did really miss the old Figure.fm board when it went away. The lack of a multiple pic uploader was kinda annoying but the rest was pretty nifty.

Anyway, back to taking pics of my room. What fun…
