You got THE TOUCH!

Did you understand the significance of the post title? Did it make you grin and cringe in equal measure at the 80s Cheese rock it represents?
If it did, then this post is for you guys! It also gives me a chance to show that I’m not all about anime and video games!

2 years ago, when this blog was in it’s infancy, I participated in one of the very first comic book signings at my old haunt of Orbital Comics in central London. It was a transformers signing with legendary writer Simon Furman and Artist Nick Roche.
Now today, with the excuse of Revenge of the fallen being shown in cinemas, they did another one! And this time, like most sequels, they made it bigger and better!!

Today, they had Simon Furman back as well as Nick Roche, but also 2 extra guests, Liam Shaloo and Jon Davis-Hunt!!! So we got 1 writer and 3 artists for the latest transformers comics from IDW!!
I went in and got my Blu-Ray copy of bay-formers signed as well as one of my limited issues of the current storyline “all hail Megatron” by all the guests.

… Except for Nick. You see, when I went to the last signing, he graciously drew me a sketch of starscream (after I couldn’t decide on who I wanted drawn and didn’t want an Optimus Prime or megatron like all the other people) and then, issue #3 of “All Hail Megatron” came out last year with a cover by Guido Guidi…

Weird huh? In any case, after noticing how similar the cover was to my sketch, I just had to have Nick sign that one!! I also got a few other things too, like sketches from all 3 artists. Wanna see?

I’ll leave them blank for now to see if you can recognise them. Don’t worry, they aren’t any of the obscure ones. If you’re still completely stuck, I’ve written the names under each pic in invisotext! Just highlight the bottom area between pics for their names. And if you consider yourself a transformers fan, Kick yourselves for not recognising them!

Jazz by Liam Shalloo

Soundwave by Jon Davis-Hunt

Grimlock by Nick Roche

I think I prefer Nich Roche out of all 3. His sketch is distinctly mecha and sufficiently blocky but not too messy while Liams looks more organic & Jon’s pic is a bit too heavy on the detail. Having said that, all 3 are great.
So, Jealous?

And so, that gives me a set of 2 autobots and 2 Decepticons. Guess I really should ask for the leaders next time, but I think I might try my luck and take some references and ask them to draw me some full on japanese mecha, like gunbuster and GaoGaiGar!!!
That would be awesome!!
